The Carpentry & Joinery Academy trains apprentices in furniture making, door and window fitting, roofing basics and finishing work — taking a piece from raw timber to a finished, client-ready result.

What you'll learn
Eight modules, taught in sequence, moving from fundamentals to client-ready standard. These sit inside Phase 2 (Technical Skills) of the academy’s six-phase programme, below.

Carpentry Safety & Tool Handling
Safe use of hand tools, power tools and workshop machinery from day one.

Timber & Materials Knowledge
Understanding different woods, boards and fixings, and choosing the right material for the job.

Measuring, Marking & Cutting
Accurate measurement and clean, precise cuts, the foundation of every piece.

Furniture Making & Joinery Techniques
Building and joining furniture pieces to a strong, lasting standard.

Door & Window Fitting
Hanging doors and fitting frames true and square.

Roofing Basics
Introduction to roof structures, timber framing and basic roofing work.

Fittings, Finishing & Polishing
Hardware fitting, sanding, staining and finishing to a professional standard.

Client-Ready Installation Standards
Finishing a job, furniture, doors or fittings, to a standard a client can trust.
